The Green Bay Packers waived the third-year edge rusher on Tuesday, clearing room on the 53-man roster for safety Ibraheim Campbell. Campbell was returning to active duty off the Physically Unable to Perform list and Williams, who has been inactive for all but one game since joining the Packers, was the victim of a numbers game.
However, on Thursday the Packers announced that they have signed Williams back to the team’s practice squad following him clearing waivers.
An explosive athlete, Williams has yet to live up to his third-round draft status, which he achieved after an impressive career at Alabama.
