GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers released linebacker Chris Russell from the practice squad and replaced him with former first-round draft pick Jamin Davis.
The Washington Commanders’ top pick in 2021, Davis started 36 of 45 games at inside linebacker his first three seasons, but after Dan Quinn replaced Ron Rivera as head coach after last season was moved to edge rusher.
He played in five games, logging just 86 snaps on defense before his release. He totaled 13 tackles, including one for loss.
The 6-foot-3, 234-pound Davis made 269 tackles over his first three seasons, including seven sacks and 14 tackles for loss.
