After the Green Bay Packers spent much of the offseason infusing their defense with new blood, they committed to one of their up-and-coming defensive contributors on the eve of training camp. On Monday, the team announced a contract extension for defensive lineman Dean Lowry.
Prior to the extension, Lowry would have entered next offseason without a contract. The new extension, which NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports will add three years and $20.325 million to Lowry’s existing deal, will prevent the defensive lineman from hitting the open market at the same time the Packers face contract decisions with Mike Daniels, Blake Martinez, and others.
