Martin was a high school quarterback and defensive back at Burnsville High School (Minn.).
Martin started nine games as both as sophomore and a junior, totaling 101 tackles in those two seasons. He also had 2.5 sacks, 2.0 interceptions, 10.0 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in that time.
Martin played in just eight games as a senior due to a knee injury that required surgery after the season. Martin couldn't play in the Senior Bowl and was a limited participant at the NFL Combine in February.
