Green Bay — Green Bay Packers safety Sean Richardson has suffered a herniated disk in his neck for the second time in his career and will be lost for the season, according to a source who was informed of the safety's condition.
The injury could spell the end of Richardson's career because it is a similar injury to the one he suffered in 2012 and required fusion surgery of the C-5 and C-6 vertebrae.
According to neurosurgeons who have performed fusion surgery, a second herniation typically occurs directly below or above where the fusion took place.
