The Green Bay Packers announced the addition of defensive end Shaneil Jenkins Sunday – a pickup from the Seattle Seahawks’ waiver wire, while at the same time announcing that tight end Beau Sandland was placed on injured reserve.
We don’t want you to get too excited about these moves, as neither player is expected to have any impact on the team, other than to fill roster spots and to keep the team at its player quota for training camp.
Jenkins, a 23-year-old defensive end and a journeyman who has spent the past year being passed around the NFL, seems to be a placeholder and nothing else, filling the spot vacated by Sandland, another player who is an unknown among most Packers fans.
