Few Green Bay Packers draft picks have come with as much local fanfare as the team’s first pick of the fifth round in the 2014 NFL Draft. With the 176th pick, the Packers chose wide receiver Jared Abbrederis, a native of Wautoma, Wisconsin and a former walk-on with the Wisconsin Badgers.
Unfortunately for the local boy, Abbrederis’ career has been marred by injuries. He lost his entire rookie year to a torn ACL, then missed almost all of his second training camp with a severe concussion. On Thursday, two days after being placed on injured reserve with a thigh contusion, the Packers elected to part ways with the third-year player, as the two sides have reportedly come to an agreement on an injury settlement.
