Packers Offense Needs Third Down Improvement

In watching a recent replay of last season's week 17 game between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings, I was reminded of how much the Packers struggled offensively on third down. On this particular drive, the Packers were in Minnesota territory and down by 10. Facing a 3rd-and-2, running back Eddie Lacy plowed ahead for five yards and an apparent conversion. A holding penalty not only negated the first down but it moved the Packers out of field goal range. On the next snap, the Vikings got to Aaron Rodgers and forced a fumble that was returned for a touchdown.
