A couple of things happened this week that likely affect how the Green Bay Packers will approach free agency and the draft. Bucs receiver Mike Evans, despite being 30 years old and a ten year veteran, signed a new contract with the team which averages over $26 million per season. One would think such a whopping salary would put him at the top of the chart at his position, but he is actually no higher than fourth. Tyreek Hill ($30 million), Davante Adams ($28 million) and Cooper Kupp ($26.7 million) still rank ahead of him.
The other significant event is that inflated salaries such as the one Evans received apparently scared teams around the league into franchise tagging their pending free agents.
