Packers move Don Barclay to injured reserve & sign Ahmad Brooks

The roster move that everyone expected has taken place, with a certain little wrinkle. On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers announced that they had moved offensive lineman Don Barclay to injured reserve. By waiting until Sunday to do so, the Packers preserve his eligibility to return to the active roster at some point in 2017.

Barclay is the only veteran backup lineman with more than one year of NFL experience on the roster. He was expected to backup all three interior line spots, but he suffered an ankle injury early in the preseason. Because the injury took place after camp began, he was not eligible for the Physically Unable to Perform list.
