Packers' Mark Murphy has overseen huge Lambeau improvements

Green Bay — When Mark Murphy first came to Lambeau Field on Oct. 17, 1983, as a safety for the Washington Redskins, he couldn't help but marvel at the game-day atmosphere.

The Green Bay Packers were far removed from their glory years, but the fans still packed the place with unconditional loyalty, eager to watch what turned out to be one of the greatest games in years, a 48-47 Packers upset of the defending Super Bowl champions. Murphy knew then that something special had remained within this grand building even if the organization itself was troubled and unsuccessful.
