GREEN BAY – Mark Murphy doesn't claim to have envisioned the transformation of the Green Bay Packers organization during his tenure as its president. Still, he knew what to do when he got here.
The Packers now are a multi-business enterprise in which football is the chief, but by no means only, focal point. Add to that the Green Bay Packers Foundation, and Murphy oversees operations worth more than a half-billion dollars.
"I wish I could say I had the foresight. You knew there was a lot of potential," said Murphy, who was elected president and CEO of the Packers in December 2007.
