Packers make running back switch, don't activate Andrew Quarless

DETROIT – The Green Bay Packers made a change at the bottom of their running back depth chart hours before Thursday’s game at the Detroit Lions, when they promoted rookie John Crockett from the practice squad, according to a source.

To make room for Crockett, the Packers released fellow rookie running back Alonzo Harris.

The two former undrafted free agents waged a competitive preseason battle for the No. 3 running back spot behind Eddie Lacy and James Starks. Although the 6-foot-1, 237 Harris won the job in large part because of his bruising style that resembled Lacy, he carried only four times for 19 yards and was inactive for five of the 11 games this season.
