Former Gophers and current Packers inebacker Kamal Martin had surgery on a torn meniscus on Tuesday and will be out for at least six weeks, according to an ESPN report.
Martin, a Burnsville native, suffered the injury to his left knee; he had surgery on his right knee last December, ESPN said. Martin injured his right knee with the Gophers last October and had the operation days before Minnesota’s 31-24 victory over Auburn in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day.
Martin had impressed in Packers preseason camp and was a candidate to start when Green Bay plays the Vikings in the season opener on Sept.
