Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper named NFC defensive rookie of the month

Edgerrin Cooper didn't even play in every December game for the Green Bay Packers, but plenty of people noticed when he got back into the lineup.

Cooper was named the NFC defensive rookie of the month for December/January, a capstone to the linebacker's superb first season with the Packers. The second-round draft choice out of Texas A&M has 35 tackles in four games (26 solo), with eight for loss, an interception and sack (both in Week 15 against Seattle), a fumble recovery and three quarterback hits.

Cooper's game against Seattle was his first back from a hamstring injury and landed him his second NFC defensive player of the week honor this season.
