Green Bay — The two-day negotiating period before the start of free agency Wednesday affords any NFL player scheduled to be on the open market a head start in finding a permanent home.
But for the Green Bay Packers it also serves as one last chance to strike a deal with one of its mid-tier free agents before the frenzy begins.
The Packers are dealing from a position of strength after taking their top two free agents-to-be — defensive end Mike Daniels and kicker Mason Crosby, plus a possible starter in defensive tackle Letroy Guion — off the market with long-term contract extensions.
