Packers Hoping to Get By at Inside Linebacker

It’s pretty clear that inside linebacker has not been a priority in Green Bay for quite some time.

The last first round pick spent at the position was back in 2006 when A.J. Hawk was drafted out of Ohio State.

In recent years, the Packers have instead drafted linebackers in the middle or late rounds –doing so in five of the last six drafts – and picked up a low-cost veteran to add experience where necessary.

If one of these players turns out to be a quality starter, it’s a bonus, but Green Bay’s personnel department clearly feel they can win games with average (or below average) linebacker play.
