In choosing the Green Bay Packers new defensive coordinator, first and foremost, Matt LaFleur wanted to find the right fit—and it just so happens that Jeff Hafley utilizes a 4-3 defensive scheme.
However, another part of the decision to hire Hafley is that LaFleur believes the Packers already have the personnel to make this jump from a 3-4 to a 4-3 a relatively simple one to make.
“Certainly, it will be a different scheme,” said LaFleur, “but I think it’s one that will be easy to adjust to with the personnel that we have.
“That was something that certainly was at the forefront of my mind as we were going, this was you better make sure the pieces we have in house are capable of doing what he’s going to expect of them, and I think we have that in house.
