The Green Bay Packers have not used a first round draft choice on a wide receiver in two decades. Most experts expect that streak to end in this year’s NFL Draft.
As of now, GM Brian Gutekunst has two picks in the first round of the draft. After the departure of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, receiver is easily the team’s greatest and most pressing need. There are as many as six wideouts expected to go in the opening round this year and it is likely the Packers will pick one.
Since the start of the Lombardi Era, the Packers used a first round pick on a wide receiver only six times and the results have been mixed.
