Pro Football Hall of Fame member Willie Davis, a key member of the Lombardi-era Green Bay Packers, died Wednesday morning at age 85.
The Packers said he died at a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., but did not reveal the cause of death.
A defensive end, Davis played for the Packers from 1960-69 and was part of Green Bay's Super Bowl-winning teams in 1967 and '68 -- and five NFL championship teams. Davis also was the first African-American captain in the team's history.
In 12 NFL seasons, he never missed a game.
Davis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1981.
