GREEN BAY – It’s not that much of an exaggeration to say Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff checked down the Green Bay Packers to death in Detroit’s 34-31 victory Thursday night.
Goff is having a big season — his 109.1 passer rating is second in the NFL, and he had another efficient night against the Packers (109.7 rating, 32-for-41 passing for 283 yards). But the Lions’ passing game is more ball control than big play and is based around short and medium throws, not taking shots down the field.
