SÃO PAULO − The Green Bay Packers will go with newcomer Malik Willis as their backup quarterback Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles after elevating just one player from the practice squad, running back Ellis Merriweather, for the game.
The Packers would have elevated quarterback Sean Cliffford from the practice squad for the game if they were not confident Willis could be the backup. Willis was obtained in a trade with the Tennessee Titans last week and has only had a handful of practices with the team.
