After going all defense on days one and two of the 2018 NFL Draft and offense with their first two day-three picks earlier today, the Green Bay Packers went for special teams with the 172nd pick, the 35th choice in the fifth round.
With that pick, the Packers selected J.K. Scott, a punter from Alabama. Scott is the second punter chosen in the draft, after the Seattle Seahawks traded up to select Texas punter Michael Dickson. The Raiders picked punter Johnny Townsend from Florida with the very next pick at 173.
In two of Scott’s four seasons at Alabama (2014 and 2016), he averaged more than 47 yards per punt gross.
