The NFL’s roster cut deadline came and went on Tuesday at 3:00 PM Central Time, when the Green Bay Packers trimmed their roster down from 90 to 53 players. Most of the players whom the Packers released went into the NFL’s waiver system, which gives teams the opportunity to acquire them in reverse order of the final standings from last season.
The Packers, however, sat 25th in the waiver priority by virtue of making the playoffs and winning a Wild Card game. That means if the Packers and another team (or teams) ahead of that position put in claims for the same player, the team with the best priority would get that player.
