The Green Bay Packers’ rebuilt secondary took its first hit of the 2017 season on Thursday. According to Pro Football Talk, cornerback Herb Waters will miss the year with a shoulder injury.
The Packers invested considerable resources in their secondary this offseason, including using their top two draft picks on defensive backs Kevin King and Josh Jones. Still, the team also planned on development from returning youngsters like Waters to resolve their pass-coverage woes from a year ago. Waters expected to compete for a spot before his shoulder injury.
Waters first joined the Packers as an undrafted free agent from the University of Miami (Fla.
