Releasing Johnny Lumpkin from the practice squad on Wednesday cleared the way for the Green Bay Packers to bring back rookie tight end Messiah Swinson, who is available for practice on Thursday, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
Signing Swinson, who is listed 6-7 and 259 pounds, will re-fill the practice squad.
The Carolina Panthers signed Swinson off the Packers’ practice squad before Week 1. He was waived on Wednesday and immediately returned to Green Bay.
Swinson didn’t appear in a game for the Panthers.
Swinson went undrafted out of Arizona State, where he caught 28 passes for 317 yards and two scores over two seasons with the Sun Devils.
