Two weeks ago, New York Giants substitute quarterback Tommy DeVito made national headlines after a stellar performance against the Green Bay Packers and Joe Barry’s defense on Monday Night Football. On Wednesday, the Giants announced that DeVito’s short run of stardom has ended, as he’s been benched for Tyrod Taylor — who is coming off of a stint on the injured reserve.
Against the Packers, DeVito completed 81 percent of his passes, took zero sacks and rushed for 71 yards. In all of his other seven appearances combined (including five starts), DeVito completed just 61 percent of his passes, took 36 sacks and rushed for only 124 yards.
