Packers activate Quarless; place Montgomery on IR

Green Bay — The Green Bay Packers placed rookie wide receiver Ty Montgomery on injured reserve Monday and activated tight end Andrew Quarless, who spent the last three months on injured reserve/designated to return.

Montgomery, drafted in the third round out of Stanford this year, had suffered multiple setbacks in his recovery from a high ankle sprain suffered against the San Diego Chargers on Oct. 18. He aggravated the ankle again last week and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

"We went through the process, trying everything leading up to this point," coach Mike McCarthy said in his news conference Monday.
