While often viewed as a showcase for college football’s “B” and “C” level talents, the East-West Shrine Game (ESWG) annually puts out prospects that not only get drafted, but go on to become longtime contributors and sometimes even stars.
Look no further than 49ers quarterback sensation Jimmy Garoppolo, who in 2014 parlayed his performance in St. Petersburg, FL into an invitation to compete in the Senior Bowl the very next week.
That 2014 EWSG class also featured the likes of Ethan Westbrooks, Preston Brown, Andre Hal and Charles Leno Jr.
