While free agency is about addressing immediate needs, the NFL draft is a long-term roster building exercise. And the Green Bay Packers spent Day 2 of the 2025 draft prepping for the future at two key spots on the offensive side of the football while bypassing what most outsiders saw as clear needs defensively.
In the second round, the Packers took NC State's Anthony Belton -- providing a big, versatile offensive lineman who could be a starter up front as soon as 2026. A round later, TCU receiver Savion Williams was the pick -- giving the Packers a pair of draftees (including first-rounder Matthew Golden) to build the passing game around with uncertainty at the position arriving soon.
