Green Bay — Nate Palmer and Carl Bradford, their careers dead-ended at outside linebacker in the Green Bay Packers' 3-4 base defense, have had 11 months making the switch to inside linebacker.
Based on the first three days of training camp and the off-season, the lesser-known Palmer is ahead.
Palmer, the 193rd (sixth round) overall selection in 2013 from Illinois State, probably has received the third-most snaps behind Clay Matthews and Sam Barrington.
Bradford, the 121st (fourth round) choice in 2014 from Arizona State, probably has had fewer reps than rookie Jake Ryan and maybe even Joe Thomas, the instinctive second-year free agent from South Carolina State.
