GREEN BAY – Defensive lineman Mike Pennel
“Our goal is to improve our run defense. That’s what we’ve been working on and, hopefully, it’ll come true,” Packers Defensive Line Coach Mike Trgovac said in previewing Sunday’s game between the Packers and the Bears.
Pennel, a first-year player who made an impression as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and then built on that impression in this year’s training camp, will be filling in for two suspended defensive linemen, Letroy Guion and Datone Jones. Guion is arguably the Packers’ best run-stuffer.
“He’s a big man, so he has the ability that if he doesn’t do something right, he can cover it up with his size,” Trgovac said.
