Mike McCarthy's policy on hiring assistant coaches makes sense

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Brian Angelichio, Ejiro Evero and Ben Sirmans all came to the Green Bay Packers from other NFL teams. Luke Getsy and David Raih were promoted from within.

Those five coaches are the new members of Mike McCarthy’s coaching staff.

There’s a perfectly logical reason.

McCarthy has a widely known policy that he won’t interview college coaches until after national signing day in early February. McCarthy has said publicly in the past that he doesn’t think it’s right to take coaches away from schools during the recruiting process.
