GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers won’t say the Green Bay Packers have “accepted mediocrity” -- something team president/CEO Mark Murphy said earlier this week he’s heard from frustrated fans despite the team’s eight straight playoff appearances -- but the two-time NFL MVP quarterback agrees that the team’s single Super Bowl title on his watch hasn’t been enough.
“We've been to the playoffs eight straight years, which is an accomplishment,” Rodgers said Thursday morning following the team’s first practice of training camp. “But you want more titles.”
Murphy, speaking following the organization’s annual shareholders meeting, told reporters that a portion of the fan base is unhappy with general manager Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy and the fact that the Packers haven’t been back to the Super Bowl since the 2010 team won Super Bowl XLV in Rodgers’ third year as the starter.
