When Packers’ President Mark Murphy and GM Brian Gutekunst announced Matt LaFleur as the next coach of the team, most fans were disappointed. Packer fans wanted a big name prospect hired, thank goodness the Packers’ leadership knew better. No one expected LaFleur to do as well as he has for a rookie coach, making the NFC Championship Game. Murphy and Gutekunst were looking for someone who could change the culture at 1265 Lombardi Ave. The Packers had become stale under the Thompson/McCarthy era. Just a winning season had become acceptable, with only hope for a deep playoff run or Super Bowl.
