Matt LaFleur explains what Packers defense did wrong on game-deciding third down against Bears

GREEN BAY – If Matt LaFleur could get a mulligan, the Green Bay Packers defense wouldn’t have lined up three defensive backs more than 20 yards away from the line of scrimmage on Sunday’s deciding play.

The math didn’t work when the Packers were trying to prevent the Chicago Bears from converting a third-and-11. With 15 seconds left and the Bears without timeouts, the Packers defense’s objective was clear. Any reception in the middle of the field that traveled less than 11 yards would end the game. Because the Bears could not spike the football on fourth down.
