Boca Raton, Fla. — The downside to the Ted Thompson school of ignoring free agency is that Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy has to explain to fans over and over why they should not panic that the team has yet to approve an eight-figure contract for another team's free agent.
The upside is there's plenty of time to help the NFL figure out whether tweaking the rule book can have a positive impact on the game.
Murphy has been in Florida for a week as part of his duties on the NFL competition committee.
