The Green Bay Packers failed to reach an agreement with running back Aaron Jones earlier this week. One day after the Pack released Jones, he signed with the division rival Minnesota Vikings.
While there were legitimate reasons for the Packers to ask Jones to take a pay cut and then to move on from him after he refused, the loss of Jones will be felt by the Packers both on and off the field.
On the field, Jones was the catalyst of the Packers offense for the better part of his time in Green Bay. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a season three times and finished his tenure in Green Bay as the franchise’s third all-time leading rusher with 5,940 yards.
