In the spring of 1995, as Ron Wolf was preparing to draft Craig Newsome, William Henderson and Antonio Freeman, and Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers were on the cusp of greatness, the Milwaukee Journal and Milwaukee Sentinel merged.
Bob McGinn, who was covering the Packers for the afternoon Journal, and Tom Silverstein, who had the beat for the morning Sentinel, became colleagues instead of rivals.
Over the 20-plus years since, just as the Packers have enjoyed a phenomenal run of success, the Journal Sentinel's coverage of the team has evolved and flourished.
McGinn sharpened his critical analysis and in 2011 was voted into the writer's wing of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
