When the Packers signed Josh Jacobs as ready made replacement (and, however briefly, backfield companion) for Aaron Jones, it was clear he was going to be a priority on offense.
Why wouldn’t he be? You don’t shell out big-time free agent contracts to guys you don’t plan to make a centerpiece of your team, and Jacobs had been productive throughout his NFL career on a slew of pretty uninspiring Raiders teams.
Through seven weeks, the plan has gone according to script. Nobody on the Packers has touched the ball more than Jacobs. His 136 total touches (120 carries, 16 receptions) dwarfs the next closest player (Emanuel Wilson with 53), and he’s lightyears ahead of the Packers’ other offensive stars, like Jayden Reed (39 touches), Tucker Kraft (22) and Christian Watson (10).
