Green Bay— Just four starting players for the Green Bay Packers have suffered a season-ending injury in an exhibition game since 1986.
Three of them — linebacker Desmond Bishop, nose tackle B.J. Raji and wide receiver Jordy Nelson — went down in the last four summers.
The loss of Nelson to a torn anterior cruciate ligament Sunday in Pittsburgh was met not only with sorrow but also a degree of anger among his teammates.
After the game, quarterback Aaron Rodgers found it hard to conceal his disgust, ruing losing Nelson in what he referred to as a "meaningless" game.
