It’s pretty much exactly the type of non-splashy signing we expected from the Green Bay Packers. The team signed rookie free agent quarterback Jerod Evans to their practice squad on Tuesday.
Evans is now the Packers’ de facto No. 3 quarterback.
Evans played at Virginia Tech and was an undrafted free agent signing by the Philadelphia Eagles following the draft. However, he suffered a foot injury during their rookie camp, was placed on injured reserve and then released.
Evans put up some nice stats in 2016 after transferring from Trinity Valley Community College. He tallied 3,546 yards and 29 touchdowns passing, plus 846 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing.
