Green Bay — Nineteen years ago the Green Bay Packers caught a huge break when wide receiver Andre Rison showed up on waivers just when they had a dire need at the position.
The Packers claimed Rison in mid-November 1996 and, with the former Falcon becoming a key target for Brett Favre, went on to win the Super Bowl.
On Sunday, one day after James Jones was released by the New York Giants, the Packers added to their corps of wide receivers sans Jordy Nelson by signing him to a one-year contract, an NFL source said.
