Sean Rhyan’s rookie year didn’t exactly go to plan.
The former UCLA tackle failed to get on the field for a single snap on offense in 2022, before ending the season with a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
This would have been a less than ideal start regardless of where he was drafted but given Packers fans are still haunted by the ghosts of third rounds’ past, Rhyan’s disappointing campaign was even more concerning.
For Green Bay’s GM Brian Gutekunst, the third round has been a house of horrors.
In his first draft in the big chair, Gutekunst moved back up into the third – handing over a fourth and a fifth-round pick to the Panthers – to select linebacker Oren Burks.
