GREEN BAY – If the Green Bay Packers end up being better on defense this year than last, one group of players they’ll be able to point to is their safeties. Their worst position on either side of the ball in 2023 has become one of their best.
Of course, free-agent pickup Xavier McKinney has been impossible to miss. His interceptions in each of the first five games say it all. What’s jumped out about those plays is his ability to read quarterbacks and break quickly on the ball. When you watch the games in person or on coaches tape, you’ve seen shortly after the ball was in the air that McKinney would have a great shot at ranging across the field for the takeaway.
