GREEN BAY, Wis. -- James Jones doesn’t think he misunderstood. When he walked out of his exit interview with coach Mike McCarthy in January, he truly thought he’d be back with the Green Bay Packers.
Even with Pro Bowl receiver Jordy Nelson returning from last year’s knee injury and four young receivers -- Davante Adams, Jeff Janis, Jared Abbrederis and Ty Montgomery -- with varying degrees of promise, Jones said McCarthy gave the impression during their conversation after the Packers’ season-ending, playoff loss to the Arizona Cardinals that the team still planned to re-sign him.
