The Packers need all the help they can get in the secondary. Allowing Micah Hyde to leave the building isn’t going to solve that.
Hyde can line up at safety, outside corner or in the slot. He’s a punt returner. He’ll be playing guard next. Ted Thompson just needs to make sure it’s in Green Bay.
Hyde certainly earned himself a payday. His play steadily improved during his four-year rookie deal, and he’s the prototype of Thompson’s draft-and-develop philosophy.
Draft ’em. Develop ’em. Re-sign ’em.
Hyde so far checks two of those boxes. Thompson won’t want his coaches’ efforts of developing their talented young defensive back lead him to another team.
