Green Bay Packers release tight end Johnny Lumpkin from practice squad, have one open spot

GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers have released tight end Johnny Lumpkin from the practice squad, the club announced Tuesday.

Lumpkin had been added to the practice squad Sept. 10. At the time, the Packers had just lost practice squad tight end Messiah Swinson to the Carolina Panthers and needed a replacement.

The Packers have Andrew Beck, who is listed as a fullback, but at 6-foot-3, 252 pounds, plays tight end also.

No replacement for Lumpkin was announced, but it’s possible the Packers were working out prospects and will add a player to the practice squad Wednesday.
