Lavern “Lavvie” Dilweg was one of the early pioneers in the NFL.
Dilweg was considered the greatest alumni of Marquette University ever to play in the NFL.
He was born in Milwaukee in 1903 and was a star football player at Washington High School. His Marquette Golden Avalanche teams compiled a record of 28–4–1 during his four years and he won All-American honors as an end who played both on defense and offense.
