With their second pick in this past year’s NFL draft, Green Bay scooped up Josh Jones from NC State. Clearly trying to overhaul their secondary, the Packers followed up their selection of Kevin King by taking the 6-foot-1 safety to replace Micah Hyde.
Hyde’s specialty in Green Bay was to be a slot corner who provided some tackling insurance for a secondary that was suspect at that part of the game for several seasons. However, after the departure of Casey Hayward, Hyde was not the same player that the Packers had hoped he would become.
When Green Bay took Josh Jones, they had two starting safeties ahead of him on the depth chart.
